A Bespoke Career with Constellation Brands

VP of Global Accounting

McCorry’s journey at Constellation Brands began in 2004 when he joined as a Director before rising to Vice President of Global Accounting. In this capacity, he oversaw the global consolidated accounting close process for a publicly traded company worth $3.6 billion. He successfully streamlined operations by reducing the time to close financial reports by eight days while maintaining the quality and compliance of financial reporting. His efforts exceeded operational efficiency, as he developed global cash flow reporting processes that significantly cut preparation time by 10 days.

His contributions were pivotal in reducing the company’s reliance on external consultants by performing in-depth accounting research on complex transactions, including acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and derivative instruments. McCorry led the fair value purchase price allocations for significant investments, including several $1 billion+ transactions, ensuring that Constellation Brands adhered to global accounting policies and procedures. His leadership also helped centralize the company’s intercompany transaction processing, eliminating errors and enhancing processing speed. These initiatives improved the overall effectiveness of the finance and accounting functions, ensuring compliance and operational efficiency globally.

VP of FP&A – Wine & Spirits

In 2012, McCorry transitioned to Vice President of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) for the Wine & Spirits division, overseeing the financial strategy for the U.S. Wines & Spirits business, which generated $2.7 billion in profit. His leadership in this role helped shape the annual strategic and financial planning processes, ensuring alignment between economic goals and business objectives.

Two years later, McCorry took on the role of Vice President of Commercial Finance for Wine & Spirits, where he focused on driving revenue growth and optimizing the brand mix. He was responsible for implementing a zero-based budgeting process and centralizing approximately $150 million in non-price investments, which helped streamline financial operations and align the business with its commercial priorities. His leadership was instrumental in creating a stronger connection between economic performance and the company’s broader goals, providing the sales leadership team with key insights and actionable financial data.

During this time, McCorry also implemented a cloud-based forecasting solution that combined regional sales, supply chain, and historical data into dynamic monthly forecasts. This innovation improved forecast accuracy, ensuring better alignment between the company’s operations and financial objectives. Furthermore, he restructured the sales finance organization, creating a shared services model that streamlined processes and supported growth, all without increasing headcount.

Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer, Beer Division

From 2021 until late 2023, McCorry served as the Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Constellation’s Beer Division, which generated $8 billion in annual revenue and nearly $3 billion in profit. In this capacity, he led transformative initiatives to optimize capital investment and improve operational efficiency across the division. One of his key achievements was reducing planned capital investments by $1.5 billion over three years by aligning commercial demand with supply chain and engineering efforts. This move saved the company significant capital and enhanced structural margins by 30 to 40 basis points.

McCorry’s leadership in improving visibility and decision-making processes was equally impactful. He developed a multi-year cost efficiency strategy across the company’s $3 billion operational footprint, mitigating cost inflation and driving sustainable margin improvements. In addition, he formalized a new governance structure for capital planning and approval, ensuring enhanced oversight and better resource allocation.

Strengthening Global Collaboration and Engagement

Beyond improving financial outcomes, McCorry’s efforts to enhance cross-border collaboration within the finance organization were vital in fostering a more engaged and productive workforce. He led the introduction of an expatriate program, which improved employee engagement and development, resulting in a notable increase in engagement scores and a reduction in turnover. His initiatives improved employee satisfaction, helped lower recruiting costs, and fostered more substantial organizational alignment. His engagement with the strategy team also helped redefine the company’s global business planning process, enhancing prioritization and focus on strategic initiatives. These initiatives were crucial for positioning the company for continued growth in an increasingly competitive market.
